Ceramic Jewelry Cleaning
Ceramic is not just for dinnerware anymore. Ceramic is one of the fastest growing contemporary materials in jewelry. It’s important to note that the material used in pottery is not what you will find in jewelry-grade ceramic. Ceramic jewelry is generally made from titanium carbide (or high-tech ceramic), a material very similar to tungsten carbide.
One of the most popular uses for this unique material is in men’s wedding rings. Ceramic men’s rings are most frequently seen in a striking black hue, and are considered to be one of the most cost-effective options on the contemporary wedding band market. Ceramic is also an increasingly sought-after material in men’s watches, and can commonly be found in black or white versions.
Not only is most ceramic jewelry very affordable, but like titanium, it is extremely lightweight and pleasant to wear. Ceramic jewelry also tends to be very durable and scratch-resistant and easily maintains its attractive appearance. Unsurprisingly, cleaning ceramic jewelry is similarly uncomplicated.
When cleaning ceramic jewelry, first make sure to remove any accumulated dirt or particles with a soft rag or cloth. Make a simple cleaning solution of warm water and just a few drops of dish soap, and apply it to your ceramic jewelry with a soft cloth or brush. If cleaning a ceramic watch or ceramic jewelry that has a more intricate design, a soft-bristled toothbrush can be used with the cleaning solution to get into any hard to reach crevices. Rinse your ceramic jewelry with a little more warm water, and pat it dry with another soft cloth.
It’s always advisable to take certain preventative measures with your ceramic jewelry. While ceramic jewelry is very resistant to scratches, it has a certain natural brittleness and can be chipped if struck against a hard surface. If you work frequently with your hands or just tend to be rough on your jewelry, you should take care to remove your ceramic jewelry when possible, especially necessary in the case of ceramic rings. Your ceramic jewelry should also be kept in a safe secure place like a jewelry box when not being worn, and should not be placed too close to larger items that may rattle against it.
Ceramic jewelry may accumulate debris and dust with extended wear. To reduce the number of times you do a full cleaning routine, try to periodically swipe your men’s ring or watch with a clean dry cloth. As with any other valued item of jewelry, make sure to avoid contact with any harsh chemicals or household cleaners.
Cleaning ceramic jewelry is as simple and hassle-free as wearing it. With a little attention and care, your ceramic ring or watch is sure to be admired for years to come.
