  • How to Clean Titanium Jewelry
  • Titanium is durable, lightweight, resistant to tarnishing and hypoallergenic. These attributes make titanium ideal for jewelry production. Titanium is a great choice for jewelry selections such as rings, wedding bands, body jewelry, bracelets, earrings and necklaces. Titanium jewelry is easy to care for; titanium rings, bracelets and earrings can take heavy abuse and clean up just like new with proper jewelry care and cleaning.

Our simple jewelry care tips will help you keep your titanium jewelry looking fantastic for many years.

First, choose your cleaning solution. Titanium is not sensitive to most chemicals; you can choose from a variety of cleaning solutions for your titanium jewelry. Prepackaged jewelry-cleaning solutions are safe for titanium jewelry, as are ultrasonic jewelry cleaners. Anodized titanium jewelry has been through a chemical process to change the color of the metal. Anodized titanium jewelry should be cleaned only with warm, soapy water. Titanium rings that have not been anodized can also be cleaned simply with soap and warm water.

Second, prepare your cleaning solution. If you choose to use warm, soapy water to clean your titanium jewelry, fill a small bowl with warm water and approximately one teaspoon of mild hand or dish soap. If you choose to use a prepackaged jewelry-cleaning solution, follow the directions on the package when preparing the solution and cleaning your jewelry.

Then clean your jewelry. Place your titanium jewelry in the bowl and allow it to soak for several minutes. Pay special attention to engravings and stone settings. Rinse your jewelry in warm water and dry it with a microfiber cloth. If the jewelry still looks dirty, repeat the cleaning, rinsing and drying steps.

Maintain your jewelry. You can keep your titanium jewelry shiny in between cleanings with a polishing cloth. Jewelry-polishing cloths are affordable and quickly buff away water spots and everyday residue. If your titanium jewelry looks dull after a thorough cleaning, you may need to have the piece professionally buffed to restore the shine.
